Teach Me How to Doege

After the Spring Game it is becoming very clear that Seth Doege is the real deal. Let's us start off with a background history on him. Seth Doege is a life long Red Raider, die hard from the beginning. Doege played his sophomore year at Crane High School; a 2A high school about 32 miles south of Odessa. This guy was one of the best quarterbacks in the state. Not the best sophomore, one of the best overall. It was certain that Doege was going to be a hot commodity. His father took an assistant coaching job at Wolfforth Frenship HS; right outside of Lubbock, and Doege was in place to start. However life had other plans for Doege, after getting an early offer from his dream school Texas Tech, he went down with a knee injury that kept him sidelined his last two years in high school. However this did no affect Mike Leach's belief in Doege, and in the Spring of 2008 Doege enrolled at Texas Tech. Like many student athletes, chose to major in Exercise and Sports Science.

In 2009, Seth Doege's first playing time came on last drive of a 66-14 thumping of Kansas State, where he threw his first TD to Brik Brinker, who had played at Frenship the year before Doege arrived. Two weeks later he was put in during the third quarter of the game against Texas A&M, and walked onto the field to thunderous applause from fans who had earlier been chanting "No more Potts! Put in Doege!" Doege had a solid performance, going 18-of-25 for 146 yards. His performance earned him the starting spot the next week at Kansas, but struggled and was replace by Potts at half.

With Seniors Taylor Potts and "Sticks" Sheffield healthy all season, Seth Doege saw very little playing time in 2010. With Potts and Sticks leaving, Doege was the clear favorite entering Spring practice and has only furthered his lead. Jacob Karam was applying pressure for awhile. Today, Seth Doege completed 20-35 passes for 317 yards 4 TDs and 1 INT. Karam had a modest 10-13 passing for 46 yards and 1 TD.

Barring a meltdown or major injury, Seth Doege will be this year's starting quarterback.

First Post

So I realize I will probably have next to no followers. I just want to do this for fun. Anyway I will be attending the Red-Black Game tomorrow and will provide an in depth report on what I saw.
